Happy Thanksgiving!
I hope everyone had a grand old time this weekend. I worked and got the sweetness of pay that one gets on holidays. Chels and I had our feast tonight. We made a ton of food, and ate far too much of it, just like REAL thanksgiving! I have no photos, because...I am lame. I haven't even taken my big momma camera out yet. Maybe I'm afraid a hobo will steal it, or, more reasonably, that it will get drenched in the rain. Patience my sweet Nikon, you'll feel the fresh air on your lens once more, I promise!
In work related news, I work with.....Nara THE SECOND! *GASP* She spells it differently, but it sounds the same. I am unequipped for this! MY name! MINE! And yeah, she's the second because I am older than her, so ha. Though...the work people are used to calling her by that name, so I get a random assortment. "Miss Nara" "Other Nara" "Miss A" etc. Mainly though, I snap my head around when I hear "Nara", only to be greeted with "No, not you". Dang.
OH. Chels and I tried to go out Saturday night. Ohh how excited we were for a night out in the big city. BAH. Fools! In summary:
RAIN. Every bar full by 9:30 pm. Cover charge $15 for clubs *shudder*. Half-assed "Irish pubs" that can't even spell ceilidh, indistinguishable from every other sports bar in the country, charging $8 cover. Trampy girls saturating the streets with too much heel and not enough skirt. Almost went bowling...but $17 for 30 minutes. Almost went into an arcade...Chels isn't nerdy enough. Gave up, had a big-ass cookie at Starbucks....salvaged the evening just barely with our usual fits of laughter at nothing.
Next time, there will be more planning involved! Perhaps heading out to the fabled Kits Beach area.
In other news, my bus ride is always rather interesting, but to date the best I've seen is the man mumbling to himself while wearing a sparkly sombrero. At 9am. Yay sombrero dude!
Also, people here are NOT as laid back as everyone claims. Oh no no no. I've seen more random anger between strangers here than anywhere else, about fairly minor things. Let's all calm down and live up to our reputations/stereotypes, shall we? :P
That said, I'll try and do something exciting soon so that I may post a valuable update. I hope to see the Art Gallery this week, woo. :)

When I said laidback I meant lazy. BC people are typically less friendly then people in central and eastern canada (at least from my experiences, lets just say I have never been choked out by a drunk driver at 5 pm on a weekday outside of BC). Go see Victoria, it is pretty and the crazy people can't afford the faerie ride over so it's a little bit more sane there.
You'd think it's French people who would loose patience at minor little things but not so apparently. It must be the rain....hehehe It would be more fun to visit other parts of B.C. when you both get the car.
yes, but moving to Burnaby for the laidback "nature" life of BC is like moving to Ajax to take in the night-life of Tdot. There's a reason Kits is more expensive! And I don't care who I have to bounty hunt & claim a reward- I am going to live there!
Things will get better once you find your niche and favourite spots. Hey, I've lived in WOLGOK for a year ;)
Thanks for the update, Nara. Glad you guys had a Happy Thanksgiving. Loved your description of the heels and skirts....do these ladies actually pay the cover charges or do they have a "manager"? Glad you're loving your jobs, sorry somebody else has your name. Stay Dry!!
P.S. Has there REALLY been a garbage strike for 8 weeks?
You think that's bad, I was at my friend Rhea's on Saturday, her friend Dana was also in attendance. Dana, Rhea, Rea, Argh... (trails off with insane babbling). It's like being in the middle of a name sandwich.
It does grow on you honey. I promise. It takes time to find a groove here. Give me a call soon so I can show you some good spots! :)
Oh how I've missed your sassiness Nara!! Nice to read some WORDS from you!! I know I've been no better, but c'mon! :P
I miss you.
Glad to hear you celebrated Thanksgiving in style.
And as for the "second" Nara, aye, I have more times than I'd like to admit ask "so you're name's Kalyn? how do you spell it? what year were you born?".. I am STILL the original. And you are too. *hugs*
love you.
