My FAVOURITE night so far.

Oh my goodness, was last night ever AMAZING. I'll start at the beginning:

I'm trying hard to get into the hardcore and punk scenes here, since that is basically what I'm all about. It takes a surprising amount of research to find out about all the bands and venues. During my usual digging, I found this:I really, REALLY wanted to go to this show. I've seen plenty of punk out here, and not nearly enough hardcore! But...SECRET location? Ask around?! Gah! I haven't made any friends who this kind of information yet. I kept it in the back of my mind, ready to ask anyone who looked like they'd know.

Luckily, I work where I do! All day I get to meet like-minded people going to shows, loving the same bands that I love. Yesterday, a conversation about a band emblazoned wallet led to my KNOWING THE LOCATION!!! VICTORY!!

I rushed to the location after work, only to find it abandoned! No sign of life, gated up and full of graffiti! I wasn't exactly in the nice part of town either, so this was a large setback. I spotted some hardcore looking kids in the distance, and managed to catch up with them and ask where the show was. Apparently, I did indeed have the right building...only the access point was around the back through the alley! Once I got there, I had to knock on the door to get in! There were rules like: "absolutely NO hanging out in the alley!" and "shut the door behind you!". The secretive nature of the place, as I learned, is because they aren't supposed to be having shows there at all. When they say the scene is underground, they mean it haha!

I walked in to the building to find myself in a small room, no bigger than a typical living room. There was a makeshift stage, a few couches along the side and nothing else. A good amount of people were there, and I found the guy who gave me the tip earlier that day. Hooray new friends who know things!

The show was AMAZING. The whole time I kept thinking "wow, this is really where I want to be!" A small, secret room in an abandoned building, filled with underground music and the people who love it. Heaven!!

I sound crazy to you, don't I? :P

That's ridiculous and awesome at the same time. It would've been better with the inclusion of a secret knock or yodel ;)

It's all the excitement of a speakeasy during prohibition. That's the cat's pajamas, you wacky dame! Funny side note, all the hardcore guys that come to the liquor store are so polite!

Good detective work, Nara. Persistence obviously pays. Now I see where the "scarynarablogspot" comes from. It's not you who's scary...it's that adventurous lifestyle of yours. Obviously, Williamstown just doesn't hold enough closed doors and alleys to peak your interest!! See you soon!
